Julia Carey Arendell, Faculty
Narrowly dodging a life as a restaurateur, Julia Carey received her M.F.A. from Louisiana State University. Pushcart Prize nominated for her fiction, she was also a winner of the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Prize in Poetry. Publications can be found at Electric Literature, Heavy Feather Review, VIDA, Mason’s Road, and Psychopomp Magazine, among others, as well as the anthologies Louisiana in Words and New Orleans: What Can’t Be Lost. She has served the mastheads of The Dudley Review, The New Orleans Review, and New Delta Review and teaches creative writing at Bard Early College in New Orleans where she manages the Writing Studio & Learning Commons and is the faculty advisor for the international student-run literary magazine, Global Commons. She recently completed a two year pedagogical fellowship through the Institute of Writing and Thinking.
